The BLUE MED Member States met in Nicosia, Cyprus, on the 4th and 5th of February 2020 to discuss on the progress of the various activities undertaken in all areas within the FAB framework: service provision, oversight and civil military cooperation. The ANSP, NSA and Civil-military Committees met on the 4th of February, while the FAB Governing Board met on the 5th of February. As special guests of the FAB, the Republic of North Macedonia attended the meeting of the Governing Board, during which a Memorandum of Cooperation between the five States was agreed. This Memorandum foresees the active involvement of North Macedonia in the BLUE MED FAB operational activities with the joint aim of higher harmonization and further improvement of the services provided.
Other highlights of the meetings included the approval of the BLUE MED FAB Implementation Programme for 2020-2021 which re-affirms the commitment of BLUE MED towards better performance. The new Programme focuses especially on projects with a positive environmental impact, such as the implementation of free route airspace.
